Richard Berry
Richard qualified in 1987 from Leeds University. First job as a dentist working in Hull. I purchased my first practice in Hull City centre in 1991 and then opened a new practice in Beverley in 2005. I have been involved with the Local Dental Committee since I qualified and I have been the Chair for the last 10 years. I also have a role as dental advisor for the medical team in Yorkshire and the North East. In my spare time I enjoy family time with my 4 children. I like to exercise by walking, running, playing squash and tennis. I am looking forward to working with the Magic Dentist. Children will benefit from this innovative way of introducing prevention from a young age. Richard is also our safeguarding lead at the charity.

David Hartoch BDS
David qualified from the University of Dundee in 1984 and after a short time as an associate in Lincolnshire bought the small branch practice from his Principal. It quickly grew and gained the accolade of becoming a vocational training practice where three VTs, later FDs, completed their year in the Lincoln scheme.
In 2000 David became a Dental Advisor in the Yorkshire Deanery based in Hull and spent 10 very happy years working with and supporting younger colleagues and their trainers or later Educational Supervisors.
After having worked part-time for Dental Protection, David sold his practice, stopped his role in the Yorkshire Deanery (HEE) and became a full-time employee of Dental Protection. He retired in 2021, but after a fallow 2 ½ years he has become a Dentolegal Consultant for the Riverdale group of practices and is delighted, and excited to be a trustee of ‘The Magic Dentist’.
Dr. Trishala Lakhani
Dr Trishala Lakhani is a dentist and TV presenter appearing as the dental expert on This Morning (ITV), BBC News and The Jeremy Vine Show. With a unique investigative nature to explore incredibly important, relevant and current issues, her first documentary, ‘Turkey Teeth: Bargain Smiles or Big Mistake?’ for BBC News, sparked a national conversation around the #TurkeyTeeth TikTok trend. The documentary did incredibly well, breaking viewing records, being the most watched documentary with audiences ages 16-34, last year.
The success of the documentary led Trishala to be nominated for ‘Best Investigation of the Year’ at the AMAs and ‘Most Impactful Journalism’ at the BBC News Awards. Her outstanding performance led her to being shortlisted for ‘Debut Presenter’ at the New Voices Awards (Edinburgh TV Festival).
Whilst filming the documentary, Trishala was working full-time in an oral cancer department and special care unit, which is a testament to her hard-working and empathetic nature which expands through both the medical and media industry.
Trishala covered the launch of the Magic Dentist campaign on BBC Breakfast in May 2023 and is now part of our amazing team. She features as a chef in our video to be used within our educational pack for primary schools.
